White-eye, Sakura, Izu-Oshima island & Snow

080204mejiro01_2Today when I came back from Shimoda to Sakuraya I found that something is flying around the Sakura tree next to the entrance of Sakuraya building.

Yes, that was "White-eye" (Mejiro in Japanese).

When the Sakura trees have the flowers this bird come to get its honey.

This bird makes us to feel the spring has come!

Yesterday when I went to Minami Izu-cho, Southern area in Izu peninsula I went to
Shimokamo-town where Sakura festival takes place this month, but they hadn’t had many cherry blossoms there yet …….

But our Sakura tree has already had a lot of floweres!

By the way I went to the beach with my son, Yuuki this afternoon as we could not go there yesterday because of rain. (You are able to see my son in this photo. He is flying the kite today too.)

Did you have a snow in your town yesterday?

I watched TV news and they said many places in Japan had snow yesterday, but actually we had only heavy rain and strong wind here.
Shimoda is warmer than the other places in Japan.

080204oshima01_2 Look at this!

This is one of seven islands on Pacific ocean, which is called "Izu-Oshima".

This is a second time that they have snow this winter.

As the air was very clear today we could see this beautiful island from Shirahama beach.
