From the Top of Mt. Takane in Shirahama

080218takane01_2Today it was really beautiful here in Shimoda. I can’t believe that there were black clounds in the sky yesterday.

This afternoon I went to Mt. Takane, the highest mountain in Shimoda, with my son, Yuuki.

I took this photo on the top of this mountain. I could see Izu Seven Islands clearly over Shirahama beach.

I am showing the photo which I took on the other side …….

Sunset and Cloud in The Sky

080217cloud01_2
As my daughter wanted to go to her friend’s house to play together I took her by car, and I took this picture on the way to home.

In the sky there was a big black cloud and I could see Izu Oshima island between that cloud and the sea.

I was thinking that they had snow there, and actually I was right!

Check out this web blog which the local people posted the photo he took today.

Snow, Snow, Snow on the beach – – Shirahama

080213snow01_2I was surprised very much and couldn’t believe it today. We had a lot of snow here in Shirahama after many years!

When my children went to the school at around 7:00 am it was just cloudy, but it started to snow before 9:00 am and we had 3 or 5 cm snow at last.

It is amazing because even if they have snow in Amagi mountains in winter we have no snow here…..

The Highest Mountain “Takane” in Shirahama

080208mttakane01_2Yesterday my friend asked me,

"How is the blooming of Sakura on Mt. Takane? Because I have my own Sakura there."

As I was not able to answer him I decided to go this mountain to check Sakura blossoms with my son today. (Actually there are our three sakura trees there too!)

When we got off our car we started to walk.
This is a small place to see Izu seven island on the way to the top of mountain…..

White-eye, Sakura, Izu-Oshima island & Snow

080204mejiro01_2Today when I came back from Shimoda to Sakuraya I found that something is flying around the Sakura tree next to the entrance of Sakuraya building.

Yes, that was "White-eye" (Mejiro in Japanese).

When the Sakura trees have the flowers this bird come to get its honey.

This bird makes us to feel the spring has come!

Yesterday when I went to Minami Izu-cho, Southern area in Izu peninsula I went to
Shimokamo-town where Sakura festival takes place this month, but they hadn’t had many cherry blossoms there yet …….

Snow on Amagi Mountain

080122amagi01If you stand on Shirahama beach on the left side toward the ocean you can see Amagi Mountains.

It was a first time that Amagi mountain had snow this
winter.

Last night I waked up many times because I turned off the air conditioner and it was very cold in my room.

The color of the sea is really winter’s one….

Snow on the mountain in Izu Oshima island

080121ooshima01_2Last night the weather forcast said that it would be snow on the east side of Japan.

But actually we didn’t have any snow here in Shimoda.

When I said "Good Bye" to my daughters going to the school this morning I found that Izu Oshima island had a snow on the top of mountain.

Even if we have no snow here they sometimes have it on the mountain every year.

I don’t know why, but I think that Amagi mountains in Izu peninsula have snow too.
